Huntington Beach in-home lifestyle family photos

If you've been following this blog, you've probably noticed that I'm totally obsessed with in-home sessions these days. I've spent many, many years of my professional photography career shooting family sessions outdoors - and I'm sure I'll continue to do so. But, if I'm being 100% honest, I always feel like there is something missing from the final images when it's an outdoor session.

It wasn't until I had my own child, that the lightbulb went off. The missing piece of the puzzle was intimacy. And what's more intimate that spending time with a family in their sacred space - their home? At-home sessions can be so powerful in that way.

The photos that result from these sessions are my absolute favorite -- simply because they feel more real. Now - I know what you're thinking. Photos in my home? Ah- the cleaning! The staging! Sounds like a lot of work, right? Well, sure. It's a bit more work in that way, and these sessions do generally take a longer than an outdoor session, but they are worth it. If I haven't convinced you yet, take a look at these photos of Baby Ada and her sweet family.

I was beyond excited to be invited to Brittany, Avery, Baby Ada's home. They welcomed me in with lots of hugs and bonus puppy slobber (they have 3!). Brittany is a former colleague of my husband's and a History Professor who also happens to be chair of her department at IVC. Basically, she's a badass lady! And she and Avery are killing it at parenthood! Just look at the smile on their baby girl. There is no denying it!

I cannot wait to watch Baby Ada grow up to be an amazing human and mini badass - just like mama!
