Vickki & Bruce | Irvine Hilton Wedding

I have been quite the busy little bee lately what with planning my own wedding, photographing weddings, and attending/being in friend’s weddings…but after all is said and done, and the cakes been cut and all but swallowed whole- I still adore weddings. There’s just something about watching everyone at their happiest, surrounded by all the people they love, that just gets me…each.and.every.time.  Of course it only gets better when you get to shoot beside one of your best friends.  Yup. My job rocks.:)

Marcella and I arrived at the Irvine Hilton in Orange County SUPER excited!! It’s not everyday that we get to photograph an AMAZING couple like Bruce and Vickki.  Not only were they the most relaxed bride and groom EVER, they were also incredibly sweet, and Vickki had us ROLLING with laughter all day! We could hardly keep our cameras still.

We definitely fell in love with these two, and they were absolutely head-over-heels for each other.  :)

Okay, how adorable is their little flower girl? Answer: SOOOO adorable!

Her brother, the ring bearer, ain’t so bad either.  Such a darling family.

Vickki just radiated happiness all day! She made me smile.

Little brother walking her down the isle. So sweet.

Vickki’s family was HILARIOUS!!! Can you believe how many sisters she has?!

Practicing their first dance…Bruce was so nervous.:)

Gorgeous, Vickki!!!

Bow-chica-bow-wow!!! Haha!

This family knew how to party! They even had synchronized dance moves! Hah!

Vickki and Bruce we had a BLAST getting to know you and your family’s!  Thanks for letting us share in your special day with you!

Marcella Treybig - totally captured the emotion from the day :) awesome

My AMAZING vintage-chic bridal shower featured on a wedding blog!!!

I’m so excited to finally get the chance to blog my “amazingly incredible” bridal shower (as we like to call it)!!!  So much planning and primping went into this shower and the best part was, I didn’t have to do any of it!!!  Ahhh the perks of being the bride.;)

Long story short (because if you’ve spent any time with me recently you already know ALL about my bridal shower), three of my bridesmaids, Kaysha, Marcella and Drew, got together and created the most put-together, stylish, unique, vintage-chic shower EVER made! In my opinion of course.  These girls put so much time and energy into creating a shower that knocked every body’s socks off…especially mine!  Fun details like flowers made from vintage sewing patterns, everything lemons (well, since you asked my new last name will be Lemon), including lemon-drop martinis (yum!) and Lemonhead candies, beautiful dried flowers, homemade seasonal preserves, and MUCH MUCH more, were all a part of it!

Not to mention the CRAZY-AMAZING vintage furniture from Jeni at Found (vintage rentals), and the beautiful space provided by Joel at Studio EMP (photography studio), it was the perfect shower….more than any girl could ever ask for…or dream of for that matter!  We even made all of the food ourselves! I say “we” because that is the one thing they allowed me to help with. Haha.

To top it all off, I was completely head-over-heels giddy when I found out one of my absolute FAVORITE wedding blogs, The Wedding Chicks, would be featuring my shower on its front page!!! It doesn’t get much better than that folks.  All of the photos featured on WC were taken by one of my incredible bridesmaids who made it all possible, Kaysha!

So, if you haven’t already been blown away by the fabulousness that was my bridal shower, get ready to experience that feeling first hand by checking out the post…

Stay tuned for more of my shining face on ANOTHER popular wedding blog! But more on that later…;)

Kaysha - Yay!! Your shower was so much work… but SOOO worth it!! Bring on the wedding!!! ;)

Our camping-themed engagement photos!!!

It all started with the location…from there everything just fell gracefully into place.

Lake Arrowhead.  Just a few miles from our wedding venue and keeping with the woodsy-rustic outdoor theme like that of our actual wedding.  From there a camping themed engagement session only seemed natural.  After running it by Kaysha [the amazing photographer and bridesmaid-to-be] we got pumped and hatched a plan of execution.

At first there was talk of grizzly bear costumes and bowling alleys [don't ask], but after working out the logistics of it all, we stuck to keeping it simple yet different. A tent, plaid, hiking boots, and some serious P.D.A is all it took in the end to deliver the awesomest [i don't care if that's not a word, okay?] engagement photos I [personally] have ever seen!

Of course it’s not all about the aesthetics, there’s a sentiment to it as well.  As a kid, I remember some of my happiest moments with my family being while we were on camping trips together.  There’s just something really comforting about the smell of pine, campfires, and chili dogs [the perfect camping food] that takes me way back to my more adventurous years.

I know your probably wondering where Will fits into all this since it is OUR engagement photos and all, but to be completely honest, he didn’t have much of a say in the whole thing.  Once I muttered the words “camping” he was game [if you knew him you would know that he doesn't normally need much convincing]. From there it was all Kaysha’s talented photography skills that really displayed Will and I’s ummmm…..unique[?] relationship.;)

I’m still in disbelief at how perfectly smooth the whole experience was.  We really didn’t have any clue where we were going as far as location went, our only plan was to drive until we found inspiration.  And boy did we find it!!!

How great are these lumberjack beards from Etsy??!! We’re totally sporting them at the wedding too!!!

My absolute favorite of the day!!!!

I was very impressed at how comfortable Will was in front of the camera.  For being a fairly shy guy, he worked it like nobody’s business!

We scored big time finding this fantastic view over-looking the city.  Kaysha took full advantage and whipped out her flash and composed these gorgeous shots!!!!  Genious!!!

Will and I couldn’t be happier with the way our engagement photos worked out, and it’s all thanks to Kaysha and her incredible expertise behind the lens! Next I will be showing off some more of her and my other bridesmaids mad skills from my bridal shower last week! Your socks will officially be knocked off!

I have the world’s most talented friends!!!:)

Marshall & Family | Portrait

When Scott and Kris asked me to photograph them and their adorable son Marshall, I was incredibly flattered.  Not only are they family (Scott & Kris are aunt and uncle) but Marshall is their first born and probably one of the most anticipated members of our family.  Scott and Kris were married over 10 years before they decided to have a child.  We had all pretty much abandoned the thought that they would one day produce an offspring. So when I was told Kris was pregnant, I seriously thought I was being punked.  But thankfully it was true, and I was going to have a cousin….finally.:)

Since his birth, Marshall has been an extraordinary part of our family.  He’s made me see the beauty in family, life, and love. I never knew that the life of one little person could bring so much joy to so many people.

So as you can probably tell, this shoot was especially close to my heart. I think these photos speak volumes about this incredibly amazing family and their love for each other.

Meet Scott, Kris, and 1-year-old Marshall…

These three make such a gorgeous family…you can’t help but snag some amazing shots!

Marshall is by far, the happiest baby I have ever known and he has such an infectious smile!

Perfection!

The photo below on the right is Marshall’s version of a kiss…say it with me now, “awwwwwwww!”

And my absolute favorite shot of the day! Happiness at it’s fullest.

Scott, Kris, and Marshall, thank you for allowing me to capture the warmth that surrounds you.

Marcella Treybig - All the warmth from the bright color tones and the smiling faces just radiates from these photos!

A sneak-peak at my wedding planning process…

Oh August.  I never thought I would be so overwhelmed by all that you have to offer.  In any other circumstance I would welcome your arrival, but today I sit here and wonder, how the heck did you sneak up on me like that?? This Summer has flown by faster then you can say “I do” and I feel so unaccomplished in my wedding planning thus far.  The to-do list grows daily, and the closest I get to getting anything done on that list is piling more on to it.

Unfortunately, when calculating our budget a wedding planner didn’t make it into our list of “nessesities,” so we took on all of the planning ourselves, and it’s been quite challenging to say the least. I will say that I now have a new found appreciation for wedding planners and anyone else in the industry. On the upside, the happiness that will result from all of our hard work will make it alllllll worth it.:)

The big stuff was cake (so to speak); venue: check, photographer: check, dress: check, food: check, invitations: check….but as our big day creeps closer and closer to reality, it’s the details that I find myself struggling with. Luckily, we are blessed with an AMAZING network of friends and family that have contributed and continue to contribute so much of their time, effort and money just to help us out.

Of course I couldn’t even imaging planning a wedding on my own without the help of the almighty internet Gods. I’ve spent many sleepless nights scouring websites like Etsy for ideas on pretty handmade details that I can incorporate into our wedding, and  THANK GOD for awesome wedding blogs such as Green Wedding Shoes, Wedding ChicksStyle Me Pretty and many other fun sites. Because of their existence I have been able to steal some amazing finds and cool ideas to make our wedding uniquely ours.  In addition to those life-saving websites, I am an avid wedding photographer blog stalker (go figure), and I’m always stealing tidbits from the weddings photographed on those blogs.

I mean lets face it…how lucky are we to live in an age where it’s considered completely normal to sit for hours in front of the computer with glazed over eyes and jaw agape looking at handmade cake toppers and ring pillows until four in the morning…right? RIGHT?

So thanks to all of those websites I was able to put together a little thing called an “inspiration board” which pretty much is exactly what it sounds like…wedding inspiration. Of course my inspiration board isn’t nearly as cohesive and put together as something you would see on SMP, but I gave it my best shot, and gosh-darnit I had fun doing it…you can’t beat that!!

As you can see, we are going for more of a rustic-vintagy feel and trying to steer away from some of the more traditional wedding ideals, since Will and I are not by any means a traditional couple.:) I can’t wait to finally see all of the little bits and pieces come together in October!

But in saying all of this, I know that it’s important to continue reminding myself that all of this is just “stuff.”  The real beauty is in the life Will and I are beginning together.

**Photo love goes to the blogs and websites I mentioned above. None of these photos are mine, they are all property of the amazing photographers who photographed them.**
