A trip to Charleston.

I was recently offered an incredible opportunity to second shoot a wedding in Charleston, SC!  Now, I'm gonna be honest with ya'll.  Before this trip, I didn't know a gosh-darn thing about South Carolina, or Charleston for that matter.  I mean yeah, it's near Florida, has a beach, and it's in the South...what else is there to know, right? SO WRONG.  The second our plane touched down after 15 hours of travel, bags under our eyes, and sore bums, I instantly knew I was missing out on a real gem. Of course there was an amazing wedding, with a killer bride and groom, and you will see those photos soon enough...but for now you get a little behind-the-scenes taste of Charleston action. And there was LOTS of it.  It helps that I was traveling and photographing with Marcella Treybig, one of my best friends and photo-buds.  Her and I are no strangers to travelin.  It's kind of our thing.  We've been on many adventures together, and we always spend lots of time taking photos.  So sit back, grab a cup of coffee (like me in the below photo :)) and enjoy a little taste of the uniquely beautiful and hip Charleston, SC!

Our first stop the morning after we arrived in town was, of course, the local coffee shop.  If you know me, I loves me a good cup of coffee! This little coffee shop was the cutest little place EVER.  Most commercial buildings in Charleston are all located inside of old houses (or buildings made to look like old houses).  So as we sat back and enjoyed our morning javas- we felt like we were cozying up right in our own homes.  Except my house isn't nearly as cute.

I loved all the windows and clean walls and furniture.  I'm sure we looked like TOTAL dorks taking photos of each other inside of a coffee shop.  But we were willing to sacrifice some cool points for the sake of art. :)

Okay I'm sure you're wondering by now, "seriously, who takes THAT many pictures of coffee shop for fun?" We do. So deal with it.

Cute little mural outside of the coffee shop.

As Marcella drove dangerously around the city, braking to look at every bush and house on the street (I love you girl, but I was seriously afraid for my life), we found these gorgeous flowers peeking over somebodies yard. So yeah I guess it was worth it to almost DIE for. ;)

Work it girrrrrrl!

My creepy "photographing face" caught on camera.  So awkward.  But I made up for it with a cute face afterwards.

The family who owned the home with the purrrty flowers spotted us totally doing a photo shoot outside of their home, but they were super sweet and invited us into their yard to further our nerdiness.  Boy are Southern people some friendly folk.  If we were in Newport, the cops would be called, and the dogs would be released. Okay, technically the dogs were released.  But they were little sweeties.  All FIVE of them. We were in puppy heaven!

One little doggy is gettin' fresh with Marcella.

Enjoying a yummy tangerine from their yard, after being offered it of course.

After driving around town for a bit, we decided to check out the area surrouning the wedding venue.  We found this cute little marinara, and used it to take some more photos of each other. People, this is what cool photographers do on their time off, okay?

Serious.

And goofy.  I"m a girl of many faces. :)

Enjoying some delicious homey Southern grub at Poogan's Porch. Biscuits to DIE for.

Clearly.

Loved all the little horsey tours around the city. We obviously had to take one. We are such tourists.

undefined

Such amazing architecture in all of the buildings and homes.

On our last day in town we were recommended lunch at a local oyster bar called Pearlz.  Marcella ate 2 dozen oysters on her own. I ain't mad atcha girl!

undefined

We had so much fun watching them shuck the little guys in front of us.

undefined

And we even made some new friends who made us take many a few oyster shooters with them. Needless to say our plane ride home was very relaxing. ;)
