Griffith Observatory Engagement Photos // Donna + Erik

Well, I can now say that I've conquered both Griffith Park and at the Observatory. :)  Not literally, of course. I did, however, find myself up against an unfamiliar location, smog, and tons of weekday traffic. Luckily, at the end of the day, I ended up with amazing photos of an even more AMAZING couple. Since I had never shot at either of these locations before, I was eager to experience a little of what LA had to offer. So, with my gear slung around my shoulder, we braved the LA traffic and headed toward the mountains. Both Donna and Erik work as firefighters in Illinois, and despite my best efforts I could barely keep up with their athleticism as we climbed the hills overlooking Hollywood. Being from out of town, Donna hoped for a few sunset photos overlooking the city skyline at the observatory, but as California weather would have it, a marine layer settled over the horizon just in time to cover up our perfect sunset. Even so, we made the best of it, and just as we were finishing up, I saw a tiny pink sun appear from out of the clouds and BAM, we had our sunset. So while I can't say that I conquered a fickle sun just yet, it was still the perfect end to a perfect day.
